Our ushers/greeters today are Rod, Amy and Doug Kliewer. Please check with one of them if you need assistance with seating, if you would like to use a large-print hymnal, or if you have questions about locations of Sunday school classes or restrooms.

The Peace & Social Justice Committee will meet today in the Education Wing at 11:45 a.m., following Sunday school. Please join us.

Rosedale Family Game Night: Come join us at the next family game night sponsored by the Outreach Committee and Deacons, on March 11, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the church. Children, families, singles, and couples - all are welcome. Once again, we will be inviting the Rosedale neighborhood to participate, including many of our Freedom School scholars and their families. This is an excellent opportunity to have fun and interact with not only fellow church members, but also with our friends and neighbors in the Rosedale community. Volunteers are also needed to serve pizza and clean-up afterwards. Please R.S.V.P. and/or indicate your intention to volunteer by tomorrow, March 10. Contact Joel Smith Goering: (816) 510-8244 or jfgoering@yahoo.com.

Food for body and soul. Save the date:  Thursday, March 20, 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at the church.  We will celebrate Maundy Thursday with a soup supper and "The Great Thanksgiving" (liturgy from the United Methodist Hymnal).  -Robert Kaufman, Muriel T. Stackley, and Joyce Mills

Peace Lamp highlighted during Lent: Introduced during Advent, a Peace Lamp will once again be burning at the front of the sanctuary this Sunday and every Sunday through the Lenten season. This lamp is a replica of the Peace Lamp given to the President of Iran by a delegation of American religious leaders one year ago. The Worship Committee invites you to discover and explore the lamp’s symbolism through weekly litanies based on the Epistle lectionary reading for the week. For those wanting to look ahead, next week’s lectionary readings can be found on the back of your bulletin.

Remember the date for the annual Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, March 22nd. We still need volunteers to help with the hunt and young children to find the eggs. Bring the family and join in. Watch for the sign up sheet.

Any Church members who may be interested in cleaning the church for hire on occasion should inquire with any of the Trustees.   This would be a paid activity planned in advance when our current Church Sexton is on vacation. This would also include occasional emergency backup cleaning if the Church Sexton would be off due to sickness or other circumstances. The short notice emergency cleaning coverage would require only necessary cleaning items and areas.  Inquire with a Trustee.

Men & Boys Retreat at Mennoscah:  Mark your calendars for April 25-27 for the annual retreat and campout, sponsored by the Mennonite Men of the Plains. The theme is "Wrestling With God", and will feature music, food, fellowship, fishing, and just plain fun. This is a great opportunity to start a tradition with your son or invite someone to "church" in a relaxed atmosphere. Don’t put it off another year…come see why this event has been successful for over 50 years!  For more information, contact Brent Voran 316-283-1072.

Anthem text:

True Evangelical Faith

Words by Menno Simons

Music by Larry Nickel

(Refrain)

True Evangelical faith cannot lie sleeping, For it clothes the naked, It comforts the sorrowful, It gives to the hungry food, And it shelters the destitute.

It cares for the blind and the lame,

The widow and orphan child,

That's true evangelical faith.

It binds up the wounded one,

It offers a gentle hand,

We must become everything to all.

Abundantly we have received,

And gratefully we will respond

With true evangelical faith.

So overcome evil with good,

Return someone's hatred with love,

We must become everything to all.
